CRL Loctite U.V. Adhesive is a one-part medium viscosity adhesive with an ultraviolet cure system. Tough, durable bonds can be formed with excellent adhesion to glass, metal and some thermoplastics. Ideal for making 'all-glass' showcases, glass shelves, furniture, etc. The adhesive cures within seconds upon exposure to U.V. light from a
curing lampto form a transparent bond. This product is cured when exposed to U.V. radiation of 365nm. The speed of cure will depend on the U.V. intensity as measured at the product surface, as well as the coating depth. UV349 has an outstanding ability to cure through large gaps and to cure to a hard, dry surface that is water clear.
Strength retention on exposure to moisture or humidity is excellent. When cured, it also has a high degree of general environmental durability and resistance to discoloration on aging. Cured adhesive temperature resistance is -65 to 266 degree Fahrenheit (-54 to 130 degree Celsius).
Loctite 20162 is a general purpose cleaner/degreaser, ideal for preparing surfaces prior to use of all Loctite adhesives and sealants. For best performance bond surfaces should be clean and free from grease.
Note: Ultraviolet curing adhesives require that the bond area be exposed to the ultraviolet irradiation produced by curing lamps. One of the materials to be bonded must be transparent for the U.V. light to pass through. Therefore, glass-to-glass, glass to metal, plastic to metal bonds will be effective, while metal to metal bonds will not cure.
Coverage: Approximate coverage of a 1.69 fl oz bottle;
1/16" (1.58 mm) bead - 1,000 linear inches (25.4 m)
1/8" (3 mm) bead - 250 linear inches (6.35 m)
Product Warning:This product is U.V. sensitive. Exposure to daylight, U.V. light and artificial lighting should be kept to a minimum during storage and handling. Product should be ideally stored in a cool, dry location in unopened containers at a temperature between 46°F to 82°F (8°C to 28°C). Optimal storage is at the lower half of this temperature range.
Cooling should be provided for temperature sensitive substrates such as thermoplastic. Plastic grades should be checked for risk of stress cracking when exposed to liquid adhesive.
