Our Beginning 

Believing he could enhance existing lock technology, Dale Hampton invented the weatherproof spare tire padlock in 1973. Crafted to withstand the snow, rain, and inclement weather of Denver, Colorado, his hometown, Dale's innovative lock marked the birth of the Hampton Lock Company that same year. For several years, automotive dealers sought Hampton Lock's weatherproof security products to safeguard spare tires and other vehicle accessories. 

Acquired 

In 1990, Hampton Lock Company was acquired by Hampton Products International Corporation ("Hampton") and relocated from Denver to Southern California. Hampton's shareholders recognized the strategic potential of these unique weatherproof locks, envisioning them as a foundation to build a comprehensive range of security hardware and related accessories. This strategic vision paved the way for Hampton to establish a reputation for innovation, quality, value, and exceptional service. 

Expansion 

Throughout the 1990s, Hampton expanded the breadth and reach of its padlock and portable security hardware business. Then, in 1998, the company introduced Brink's® locks into its product lineup, prompting an immediate positive response from customers who trusted Brink's name. Hampton responded by extending Brink's quality to door locks and security lighting categories. The company recently introduced a complete line of Hampton Builder's hardware products to complement Brink's security hardware collections.
